Each ml contains 1.5mg Meloxicam.
Melox is a COX-2-selective NSAID with analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic properties.
It is indicated for the management of acute and chronic inflammation associated with musculoskeletal conditions (e.g., osteoarthritis) and for the alleviation of postoperative pain.
Dogs:
- Initial dose: 0.2 mg/kg on the first day
- Subsequent doses: 0.1 mg/kg once daily for 3–4 days
Cats (extra-label):
- Standard dose: 0.05 mg/kg once daily for 4 days
- Maintenance dose: 0.01–0.05 mg/kg once daily
- Do not use in pregnant or lactating animals.
- Do not use in dogs with gastrointestinal disorders, or with impaired hepatic, cardiac, or renal function, or haemorrhagic disorders.
- Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to the active substance or any excipients.
- Do not use in dogs under 6 weeks of age.
Special Precautions
- Avoid use in dehydrated, hypovolaemic, or hypotensive animals, as there is a potential risk of renal toxicity.
Side Effects
- Rare adverse reactions associated with NSAIDs may include vomiting, diarrhoea, faecal occult blood, haematemesis, gastrointestinal ulceration, and elevated liver enzymes.
- These side effects are generally transient and occur within the first week of treatment.
- In cases of overdose, symptomatic treatment should be initiated.
